WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT PAINTING ANYMORE?
Who cares about art anymore? Image making has become an industry... something you do to sell products, something your are paid to do, with all of the media outlets this should be a period tantamount to the renaissance... but still the public sits... they want to be spoonfed their images, they don't want to be made to think. A step further, artists don't want to think either... we are all on autopilot, we are all numb, we are all asleep. I offer no solutions. I don't even think it can be stopped. Painting will suffer a transformation as poetry has (which exists as a new medium - music/lyrics, but it's teeth are pulled)... Painting will die. Painters will die. And the world will be poorer for the loss.
